Last night an arab terrorist wounded two border police in the Old City of Jerusalem with a knife. The terrorist was neutralized or shot dead by a local resident – Rabbi Aviv Tzobari, the Rosh Yeshiva of Ateret Cohanim.
While other border police also helped in neutralizing the terrorist, it was the Rabbi that reached the scene and defended the the border police that were injured.
Paramedics from United Hatzolah and the Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency medical response service treated the wounded border police guards at the scene. The wounded were then taken to nearby Hadassah Mount Scopus Medical Center in the city.
The attack took place on Rechov Hagai, the main thoroughfare that runs from Shaar Shchem to the Kotel. The area was recently “Bravery Square” in memory and dedicated to another Rabbi – Rav Nechemia Lavi Hy’d, who saved the life of Adele Benita, as he struggled with another Arab terrorist a few years ago in the same area.
Daniel Luria, the Executive Director of Ateret Cohanim said the following: “Ateret Cohanim families students and children will continue to walk the streets of OUR Jerusalem and WE WILL continue to grow and expand our Jewish presence. The Greek Empire ultimately fell to the Maccabees and so too will the hate filled radical Arab Moslem world.We are here to stay and there is nothing that the Arab world- with its hatred, violence and terrorism will do to change this fact.”
In the years since the murder of Aaron Benita and Rav Nechemia Lavi, more and more Jews have begun walking through Shaar Shchem and down Rechov Hagai. This has brought an almost near unbroken presence of Border Police and security to the area.
1,000 Jews now live in the Old Jewish Quarter, which is today named the “Christian and Muslim” Quarters.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year
